Addiction is a condition that results when a person ingests a substance such as – alcohol, cocaine, nicotine etc or engages in an activity such as- gambling, casino, sex, shopping etc, that can be pleasurable but the continued use or act of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as – work, relationships or daily health. Users may not be aware that their behavior is out of control and causing serious like problems for themselves and others.
The word of this ‘addiction’ is used in several or different ways. One definition describe is as physical type of addiction. This is a state of biological in which the body of persons or users adapts to the presence of a drug, so that the drug produces no longer has the same effect, otherwise known as a term tolerance. Another form of physical addiction is one of phenomenon of overreaction by the brain to the drugs or to cues associated with the drugs. An alcoholic person walking into a bar, for instance, will feel for an extra pull to have a drink because of these types of cues.
However, most of the addictive behavior is not related to either physical types of tolerance or exposure to cues. People compulsively use the drugs, gamble, casino or shop nearly always in reaction to being for emotionally stressed, whether or not they have a physical type of addiction. Since these psychologically based on addictions are not based on drug or effects of brain, they can account for why people frequently switch addictive actions from one drug to a completely different kind of drug or even to a non-drug behavior. The focusing of the addiction is not what matters; it is the need to take action under certain kinds of mental stress. Treating this kind of addiction requires an understanding of how it works psychologically.
When referring to any kind of addiction, it is for important to recognize that its cause is not simply to a search for pleasure only and that type of addiction has nothing to do with one’s morality or strength of the character. Experts always debate whether addiction is a “disease” or a true types of mental illness, whether it is drug dependence and addiction mean the same of thing, and many other aspects of addiction. Such of the debates are not likely or may not possible to be resolved soon. But, the lack of its resolution does not preclude effective types of treatment.
On the other ways it may say that- Addiction is a broad term, which is used to describe an entire of the process by which people become dependent on a particular type of substance or behavior in order to cope with his/her life. This dependence becomes so important to the individual that they will persist in using the substance or engaging in the behaviors, even when it’s become dangerous and strongly harmful to them-self, their family, and other important relevant areas of their life.
Or, Term addiction has long been understood to mean an uncontrollable habituation of using alcohol or other types of drugs. Because of the physical effects of these types of substances on the body of person, and particularly at the brain, peoples have often thought that “real” type of addictions only happen when people regularly uses these type of substances in large amounts.
In contrast, the term compulsion is a quite narrow, which is used to describe for the intense urge to do something. Compulsions are a small but the important part of the addictive process and are also a major part of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
More recently, some of the experts have come to realize that people can also develop addictions to behaviors, such as gambling, casino and even quite ordinary and necessary activities such as exercise and eating. At the same time, we face a problems regularly in around at our society. What these types of activities have in common is that the person doing them finds them pleasurable in some way.
So, we can see that an addiction involves the process of compulsion to take different addictive substance such as- alcohol or heroin or to carry out an addictive type of behavior such as- gambling, casino or sex but, it also involves with the other processes.
There is some controversy about which of the “behavioral” type of addictions constitute scientifically validated “true” type of addictions, with both professionals and the public failing to reaching an agreement. Now this time – More and more research is needed to clarify this issue.
Different Types of Addiction:
There are many and many different types of addictions. Clearly understanding of the addictive process and the danger signs of addiction can help us clearly to tell the difference between addictive behavior, problematic behavior that is not types of an addiction, and normal or easy behavior that is always non-problematic or it means state of healthy condition. When we asking myself, Am I addicted? Remember that, the substances/drugs use, although it is risky, is not always an addiction, and many of addictive behaviors, in the time of moderation, are normal everyday or recreational activities for many of the people.
